A Story Told in Dust, Chance, and a Single Perfect Frame
For Tonight at the Arizona, I photographed and designed the Felice Brothers’ first record. I chose a run-down, abandoned property for the shoot—something that matched the band’s grit and storytelling spirit. But the cover wasn’t staged at all; it was a quick shot of the brothers walking back after taking a piss, and it captured them more honestly than anything we planned. Paired with Gabe Soria’s written narrative and a layout inspired by classic 60s album storytelling, the imagery helped introduce the band’s world—and played a part in their rise to recognition on both sides of the Atlantic.
